Who we are

Consilium 7 Publishing House was founded in India in 2026. We publish under three imprints: Tailorbird Press for cultural stories and folklore retellings, Ursa Minor Press for readers aged 8 to 12, and Consilium 7 Publishing House for readers aged 16 and over. Consilium 7 Publishing House is an imprint of Consilium 7 Education Labs Pvt Ltd.

Built on Cognitive Data Intelligence

Consilium 7 is the first publishing house built on Cognitive Data Intelligence. Our sister research lab, Agnira Research Labs, measures how young readers assemble understanding as they read, across thousands of students in schools of every tier across India. We commission against that measured reading data, so we know where a reader loses the thread, what holds their attention and what brings them back for the next book. Then we publish the stories that meet them there.

What we publish

For generations, readers in India have grown up on shelves stocked from elsewhere. The adventure series, ghost stories and fantasy sagas that kept them reading late were mostly written in other places, for other readers. We believe the next great popular stories can begin here and travel anywhere. So we publish fiction with the pull of the best storytelling and the care of literature, by writers who know exactly where their story needs to go: a palace hotel in the Kumaon hills in 1996, the fog of Namibia's Forbidden Coast, an island off Connecticut, a village at the edge of the North York Moors, a grandmother's front yard under a neem tree.

How we work

  • We commission against measured reading data, so every list meets readers where they are.
  • We edit every book line by line, for clarity, momentum and truth to its world.
  • We publish in series where a world deserves it, so readers have somewhere to go after the last page.
  • We print and bind our books in India, and publish them for readers in India and abroad.

The list

Our list stands at more than 500 original titles across three imprints. They reach readers in phases: select titles at AILF in October, pre-orders from 28 October 2026, and the first phase on sale from 30 November 2026, with more each month after.

The team

Consilium 7 is made by a small team that came together building reading programmes for schools across India. We have watched thousands of children read, and we know what keeps one turning the page.

Anu Ashok

Co-Founder and CEO

Anu Ashok leads Consilium 7 and decides what it publishes, and why. He shapes the list and its three imprints, sets the standard every book must meet, and gives the final word before a title goes to print. He has spent nearly two decades building products for learners and readers, co-founded the education company later acquired by a listed Indian software firm, and with Madhumitha A. co-founded Agnira Research Labs, which studies how children read. Consilium 7 is his fifth venture.

Madhumitha A.

Co-Founder and COO

Madhumitha A. runs Consilium 7 day to day: people, production, schedules and the printing floor, from the first manuscript meeting to the morning a finished book leaves the press. She has co-founded ventures in education and publishing and served as Chief Product Officer at the Foundation for Ed-Equity. She is also a bestselling children's author, and her sense of what a young reader will reach for runs through everything she oversees. She has a low tolerance for anything that does not ship, which is why our books do.

Dr P. M. Anavaratham

President

Dr P. M. Anavaratham keeps the long view at Consilium 7: what kind of publisher it should be, whom it serves, and what it will never trade away for speed. He brings forty-five years across aerospace engineering, educational technology and institutional capacity building, in which he has designed leadership and faculty development programmes for institutions from K-12 schools to premier universities and groomed more than 1,000 professionals. He is the counsel the founders turn to before any decision that will outlast the season. He also chairs the Foundation for Ed-Equity and is a Director of Agnira Research Labs.

Rajesh Madhavan

Chief Editor

Rajesh Madhavan sets the editorial standard for every Consilium 7 book and holds each one to it. He leads every stage of the edit, from the shape of a story to the rhythm of its sentences to the final proof. If a line in one of our books is clear, true to its world and earns its place, it has been across his desk.

Joel David

Head of Operations

Joel David runs everything between an edited manuscript and a reader's hands: print schedules, paper, binding, stock and delivery. At Agnira he turned a research instrument into something that arrives on time in every school. At Consilium 7 he does the same for books, so that a title promised for a date is on the shelf by it.

Tejal Vasavada

Marketing and Sales

Tejal Vasavada takes our books to the people who put them in readers' hands: schools, libraries, booksellers and festivals. Tejal opened the doors of schools and institutions for Agnira, and brings the same relationships, and the same persistence, to every Consilium 7 list.

Editing and Publishing

Cliff Bhatt works on the page itself: shaping manuscripts, curating the list and seeing each book through to print. At Agnira, Cliff writes and curates the reading at the heart of its programmes, choosing books that move young readers forward. That instinct for what a reader needs next now runs through everything we publish.
